Creative use of coordinates planted the position of actual shoelaces. Cool! Well, just thought perhaps a simpler example should precede the multi-side n-gon. Say, a scalene triangle ... it'd be easy to understand how to find area. If a further confirmation of the shoelace area of triangle can be done by further illustration using the usual half-base-times-height method, then it may make more sense.
Also, perhaps the 2nd example of an n-gon has one pair of sides being concave while the rest are convex. This will help pupils understand shoelace method works for both convex & concave n-gons.
Finally, if this gizmo can be placed under Matrices as well, then it becomes more accessible. Thanks for the good work!

As a HeyMath! user, I'm very proud to say that HeyMath! has done a lot in helping me consolidate my understanding of the subject and enrich my maths knowledge. HeyMath! is a very useful tool for me because it not only help me to assimilate the knowledge that I've learnt in school, but also further strengthen our understanding by conducting online tests. I would like to say thank you for your effort in helping students. I will never forget your dedication. Though, I was initially skeptical about the service you provided, later I found that it was actually very useful.
For the year 2003, I was in secondary 4 Express at Bedok Town Secondary School. I always achieved F9 for Mathematics, my least favorite subject in school. However, a few months before 'O' Level examination I worked really hard for this subject apart from concentrating for 6 others.
Earlier this year, I achieved a grade 7 for the 'O' Level exams for Mathematics. Two grades improvement. To me it was terrific though I didn't pass the subject with a grade 6. I owe this to my teacher(s) at school and you.
