HeyMath! Intern: Melonnie
My 6-month internship as a User Experience Designer with HeyMath has been an enriching experience. After the having worked in a huge IT corporate for 3.5 years, I was determined to gain some insights in working in a smaller organization. So, after my penultimate semester I began doing some research on companies in the educational sector (as thats where my interest lies) and I came across HeyMath which seemed to fit perfectly into the kind of work I was looking for. On joining, I was glad that all my expectations of working in a smaller organization where met - the flexibility, less bureaucracy, interesting work and short term projects of which you get to see the outcomes quickly. My only apprehension on joining, was the non-existence of a design team to guide us through our internship,. However on looking back now, I think I got to learn much more because of this. There were numerous interesting to projects to work on, however I was bound by my college to work on one big project primarily and hence I couldn't get too involved in the many interesting projects like I would have liked to.
The atmosphere in the company is vibrant and energetic. I got interact with people from varied backgrounds such as teaching professionals, the technical team and animators - all equally enthusiastic and creative in their own sense. I wish everyone at HeyMath all the very best in their future endeavors.
