HeyMath! Scholar: Shreyas
My name is Shreyas, and I study in The International School, Bangalore, which follows the IB diploma. As a Grade 11 student with ambitious dreams of getting into a top university like Harvard or Cambridge, I was looking to gain some work experience, and I found HeyMath! I was introduced to HeyMath! during the previous summer (2008) when I interned at Prayag Consulting, a marketing consulting firm. I did some work for HeyMath! there, really enjoyed it, and decided that this was one place I would really like to intern at. I got the chance to do so during my Christmas vacations in 2008.
I got in touch with Nirmala Sankaran, Managing Director of HeyMath! Once she heard my areas of interest - math, physics and economics- she found this really apt energy project that exposed me to mathematical modeling of a real life problem. The fact that the MD of the company took so much trouble with my internship really speaks a lot about HeyMath!
From the first day, I felt at home; everybody was extremely friendly. Further, there was my guide Conaill Soraghan who helped me plan my day, as well as reviewed my work on a daily basis. His inputs were valuable; also, the interactions with him, and the rest of the interns from Cambridge, were a fun filled learning experience.
Without doubt, working for HeyMath! was a truly wonderful experience which I will cherish for the rest of my life.
